Given that Springvale Secondary College students come from a diverse multicultural background, with over 90% of our students having English as their second language and a significant number of our students having been in Australia for only 2 years or so, these results are even more spectacular. We are very proud of our students' results. This outstanding achievement is a reflection of the quality of our preparatory programs, the dedication of our teaching and support staff and the commitment, effort and teamwork between students and teachers at Springvale Secondary College.

Congratulations to our Year 12 Class of 2005 As you know, many of our students here at SSC have language backgrounds other than English, many have disrupted educations and others struggle with difficult financial or family circumstances. Despite so many challenges, our students continually achieve far beyond expectations. That is because our students and teachers set high expectations of themselves and work hard together to support one another and achieve their goals. Congratulations to our Year 12 Class of 2004 Our Class of 2004 set a shining example of what can be achieved if you set high expectations and are prepared to work hard to meet them. In 2004 our students continued a long-standing tradition of academic excellence and achieved for the second consecutive year an outstanding Year 12 pass rate of 98%. This achievement is not only a testament to the students' focus, dedication and perseverance, but to the dedication, hard work and talent of our highly qualified and dedicated staff. Class of 2003 Outstanding Success In 2003 we had 63 Year 12 students who sought to complete their VCE (including 18 International students). The results our students achieved this year continue our long-standing tradition of outstanding academic excellence. This year's outstanding pass rate of 98% is not only a testament to the students' focus, dedication and perseverance (in sometimes very difficult circumstances), but to the dedication, hard work and talent of our highly qualified and experienced staff. Our students and staff fully deserve recognition for this outstanding result. 84% of our students have applied to continue their studies at tertiary institutions, with the remainder seeking employment directly. Congratulations to all our students and their truly dedicated teachers who have provided our students with the guidance and support needed to enable such wonderful achievements. Qianlan (Connie) Pu became our 2003 College Dux with an ENTER score of 99.35. Connie received Study Scores of 44 for Mathematical Methods, 45 for Specialist mathematics, 44 for English(ESL), 40 for Physics, 37 for Chinese (1st Language) and 36 for Chemistry. She is one of our International Students and given that she arrived in Australia from China in July 2002 (only 18 months ago), she has achieved what can only be described as an incredible result. Connie integrated extremely well with our local students and became involved in a range of school activities including: Connie will be studying Radiography & Medical Imaging at Monash University in 2004. |

Sui-Lai Kang came to Springvale Secondary College from Heatherhill Primary School as an eager and enthusiastic Year 7 student 6 years ago. In keeping with her focussed and hardworking approach, she concluded her secondary education with an outstanding ENTER score of 98.05. Sui-Lai received the absolutely fantastic Study Score of 50 (100%) for Legal Studies. She received 40 for English, 42 for Mathematical Methods, 34 for Specialist mathematics, 33 for Physics and 30 for Politics (Distance Education). Sui-Lai also quite deservedly received a number of awards at the college Awards and Graduation Ceremony, including the 'Daniel Andrews Award for Outstanding Application and Achievement', the college 'Service to Sport Award' and an 'Academic Endeavour Award' for outstanding effort and commitment to studies. Sui-Lai will be studying Commerce/Law at Melbourne University in 2004. |

Another Springvale Success Story PROFILE - Vivien Ta Primary School - Springvale P.S. Finished 1993. Vivian began at Springvale Secondary College in 1994 and completed a Science based Year 12 in 1999. ENTER 98.15 Current Course - Optometry (Melbourne University). Vivien is in her 3rd year. Expected Completion Date 2004. Vivien is adding an extra year to her course in order to give her expertise in Glaucoma treatment. Career Ambitions - Not sure yet but hopes to start her career in the country where there is more opportunity for 'hands -on' experience. Long term aims - To travel overseas, work and be happy! |
